The exterior defines a yacht before anyone steps on board. It is also the framework within which every other design decision — deck layout, interior volumes, structural logic — either finds its logic or fights against it.

Exterior design is the heart of what we do at Valentin Design. Every project begins here, with a blank sheet and a specific brief: who the owner is, how they use the sea, what they want to feel when they look at their yacht from the water. Our clients are private owners commissioning a bespoke vessel, and shipyards developing a new model for their range. Both demand the same rigour.

From the initial brief we develop the hull profile, superstructure volumes, deck architecture, window composition, mast and appendage design, and the integration of tenders, toys, and technical equipment — resolved together rather than added in sequence.

The process moves between hand sketch and technical drawing from the first day. We do not design a beautiful profile and then fit a layout underneath it, nor do we start from a general arrangement and style the exterior around it. The two are developed simultaneously, because the proportions of a deck saloon affect the sheer line, and the sheer line affects the interior light, and the interior light is part of what the owner will live with for years.

Our technical scope covers superyacht classification under Lloyd’s Register and Bureau Veritas, as well as ISO small craft regulations — which means we design with equal confidence at any scale. Our built and currently in-build projects range from 13 to 50 metres.
